Doctrinal Statement

The Doctrinal Statement of Cedar Crest Independent Baptist Church.

Section 1: We believe that the Bible is God’s Infallible Word, written by men who were divinely and uniquely

inspired, and that it is our supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice. We affirm our belief in

the verbal and plenary inspiration of the Scripture in their original manuscripts and their copies, which is

carried over into receptor languages when translated properly. We believe the King James Bible 1611 to

be the preserved Word of God in the English language, which shall be the only English Bible used in all

reading, preaching and teaching in the church. (II Tim. 3:16-17, II Pet. 1:20-21)

Section 2: We believe in God the Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, and measureless in power. We

rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and

that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19,

John 14:10, & 26, Romans 8:28, II Peter 3:9)

Section 3: We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, born of a virgin, sinless in His life, who atoned

for the sins of the world by His death on the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension

into Heaven, His high priestly intercession for His people, and His personal, visible, premillennial return to

the world according to His promise. (John 1:1-2, 14:1-6, I Thes. 4:13-18, I John 2:1-2)

Section 4: We believe in the Holy Spirit Who came forth from God to convict the world of sin, of righteousness,

and of judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, comfort, and seal forever those who believe in Jesus Christ.

(John 14, 15, 16, Eph. 4:30, I John 2:20, 27)

Section 5: We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice but that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

We believe, therefore, that those who accept Christ as their Savior and Lord shall be forever in God’s

presence, and that those who reject Christ as their Savior and Lord will be forever separated from God. cf.

Rev. 20:15 (John 3:16, Rom. 3:10, 3:22-23, 5:12, Eph. 2:1-3)

Section 6: We believe that the local church is composed of regenerated believers, voluntarily united together

for the purpose of the worship of God, the fellowship of believers and the proclamation of the gospel of

Christ throughout the world. (Acts 2:47)

Section 7: Civil Government. We believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: 1) the home, 2) the church, and 3) the state. Every person is subject to these authorities, but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and governed by His Word. God has given

each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and balanced those responsibilities with the understanding

that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other. The home, the church, and the state are equal and

sovereign in their respective Biblically assigned spheres of responsibility under God. We believe that we

must obey the state unless it requires us to act contrary to 28 our faith at which time we must obey God

rather than the state. (Matt. 22:15-22; Acts 5:29; Rom. 13:1-7; Eph. 5:22-24; Titus 3:1-2; Heb. 13:17; 1 Pet.

2:13-14)

Section 8: Missions. We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we must use all available means to go to the foreign nations and not wait for them to come to us. (Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John

20:21; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:20)Section 9: Giving. We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God’s wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to financially support his local church. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basisfor giving, but that every Christian should also give other offerings sacrificially and cheerfully to the support of the church, the relief of those in need, and the spread of the Gospel. We believe that a Christian relinquishes all rights to direct the use of his tithe or offering once the gift has been made. (Gen. 14:20;Prov. 3:9-10; Acts 4:34-37; 1 Cor. 16:2; 2 Cor. 9:6-7; Gal. 6:6; Eph. 4:28; 1 Tim. 5:17- 18; 1 John 3:17)

Section 10: We believe that our independent positions are Scripturally sound. They include the sufficiency of

the individual soul in direct approach to God; the priesthood of all believers; the regenerate church

membership; the symbolic ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper; the autonomy of the local church;

the solemn obligation to majority rule within the church, with equal rights to all and special privileges to

none; the absolute separation of church and state; and a worldwide program of missionary endeavor in

obedience to the final command of our Lord. (I Tim. 2:5, I John 2:1-2, Rev. 1:6, 5:10, 20:6)

Section 11: Summary of the Doctrinal Statement of Faith: We are an independent Bible-believing church,

standing for the verbal inspiration of the Bible, the Deity of Christ, His Blood Atonement, Salvation by Faith,

New Testament soulwinning and the Premillennial return of Christ, Opposing Worldliness, formalism, and

any form of Modernism (including Neo-Orthodoxy and Neo-Evangelicalism).

As a Bible believing church this Doctrinal Statement provides you with only a synopsis but also a strong idea

of what the Bible teaches and the doctrine to which we adhere.
